Lismore Sustainable Flower Festival at St Carthage’s Cathedral.
A Celebration of Irish-Grown Blooms and late Summer Abundance
This autumn, we were honoured to be part of the Lismore Sustainable Flower Festival at St Carthage’s Cathedral: a gathering that celebrated the creativity and sustainability of Ireland’s local flower community.
Set against the cathedral’s ancient stone and filtered light, each floral design told a story of place and season. Our own contribution was a floral moongate, created at Moneygorm from flowers grown in our own fields just ten mins down the road, between Dungarvan and Lismore.
A Late Summer Moongate Rooted in the Landscape
The moongate was designed to feel as though it had sprung up naturally from the earth; abundant, textural, and full of life. Its palette reflected the richness of the season: golden marigolds, deep dahlias, coral zinnias, and trailing amaranth, all woven through with foliage, seed heads, and wild structure gathered from the farm.
Built entirely with foam-free, reusable mechanics, the installation was our way of showing how sustainable floristry can be both dramatic and deeply natural; grounded in what grows locally, and guided by the changing light of the seasons.
A Community Celebration of Sustainable Floristry
The festival brought together Irish growers and designers united by a shared passion for sustainability, creativity, and connection to the land. Walking through the cathedral, you could feel the collective care behind every arrangement: the scent of herbs, the hum of conversation, the colour of Irish-grown blooms filling sacred space.
It was a joy to contribute to this celebration of what’s possible when artistry meets the rhythm of nature.
With Gratitude
Thank you to the organisers of the Lismore Sustainable Flower Festival, to the community of St Carthage’s Cathedral, and to every visitor who came to celebrate Irish-grown flowers with us. Events like this remind us why we do what we do: to create beauty that belongs wholly to this landscape and this moment.
If you’re drawn to natural, seasonal florals rooted in place, we create wedding flowers across Munster, including Lismore, Dungarvan, and the entirety of Waterford, using Irish-grown blooms from our own farm.
