Why should I choose locally grown, seasonal flowers for my wedding day?
Hi, I'm Sarah. I'm an artisan farmer-florist based in Co Waterford, in the Southeast of Ireland. Together, my husband and I grow every single flower we use in our wedding design, and our passion is putting our top quality blooms into breathtaking arrangements to fulfil your seasonal wildflower- and garden-style bridal dreams.

Quality:
Seasonal flowers are of the highest possible quality: blooms grown in their natural season produce a more fragrant, resilient, and longer lasting stem. Growing our own blooms enables us to work in harmony with the cycles of nature, honouring the unique beauty that each season brings.
Freshness:
Since they don't require long distance transportation, or to spend time sitting in a warehouse in Holland waiting to be sold, local flowers spend less time in transit and arrive to your big day in peak condition.
Locally grown blooms can also be cut at the perfect moment, which allows the flowers to be at their most vibrant and intensely colourful, as well as giving the longest possible life.
Uniqueness:
Our farm grows a multitude of those bits and pieces that are not easily available on the wholesale market, but which give your wedding florals that wow factor. Here in Ireland, particularly in the Southeast, we have ideal weather for growing so many different varieties of blooms from early spring to late autumn.
Locally grown flowers can be so much more stylish and unique, allowing the use of delicate and/or oversized stems that wouldn't survive a trip from Holland. From extra tall flowering and foliage branches like crabapple and eucalyptus which provide presence and impact in your breathtaking floral installation, to those small but wonderful wildflower details in your bouquets and buttonholes.
Sustainability:
Choosing locally grown flowers minimizes transportation emissions and plastic/packaging use, as farmers harvest from the field into buckets which are then brought to the studio for arranging — no long flights or plastic wrapping required.
Local growers often use more sustainable and environmentally friendly growing practices (we certainly do!) We also don't need to use preservatives or other chemicals because our flowers don't have to survive long plane journeys out of water.
Choosing locally grown flowers also supports local economies, providing jobs and supporting the many other local Irish businesses which supply farmers with everything from plants to equipment.
A feast for the senses:
As well as their natural beauty, locally grown flowers often retain their natural fragrance, adding a sensory element to the celebration. From scented stocks and fresh snapdragons to distinctive eucalyptus and dreamy sweet williams, we have sensory delights for every season.
We also grow many fragrant herbs, such as various mints, lavender, lemon balm and rosemary, which can be included in arrangements to increase the sensory impact.
